Position Assistant Professor, Political Science and International Studies
Position Description The College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences (CLASS) seeks a full-time non-tenure track Assistant Professor of Political Science with an emphasis on International Studies to join our academic community beginning August 2024. Primary responsibilities are teaching 4 courses per semester. Expected courses include Introduction to Political Science, World Politics, Introduction to Geography, Research Methods, and upper level classes in global politics and culture compatible with the successful candidate’s area of expertise. While the ability to offer online courses is valued, most courses will be in-person. We offer our faculty the flexibility to design new courses and team-teach across academic fields, as well as support for scholarship. Other responsibilities include advising, committee assignments, supervision of student research and/or internships, and student recruitment. The position will be hired on an annual renewing contract.
Qualifications The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D., with experience teaching courses in undergraduate Political Science (specifically International or Global Studies) or an associated field, advising and mentoring experience, and an active research agenda. Candidates who are ABD and have relevant and exceptional teaching experience will also be considered. We expect all candidates to have a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. To be considered, candidates must be legally eligible to work in the United States, without sponsorship from the University under the Immigration Reform and Control Act.
