Assistant Professor: Public Health
Thomas More University is a private, Catholic, liberal arts institution located in the metropolitan Cincinnati area. The University is student-oriented, and teaching is our primary focus. We invite applications from candidates who are doctorally qualified for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. This position is for an additional faculty member due to the growth of the public health program. Appointments will begin in August 2024. Faculty are expected to demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence, service to the university, an on-going program of research and publications, presentations at conferences, and collaboration with students on projects. Faculty actively participate in student advising and mentoring, recruitment and retention, the building of community partnerships, engagement in program assessment, the hiring of colleagues, accreditation processes, and the creation of opportunities for student-faculty collaborative research/service opportunities.

Program Overview
Appointed faculty will work in the Public Health Program within the Department of Health Sciences within the St. Elizabeth College of Natural & Health Sciences. The Public Health program at Thomas More University seeks to develop the next generation of public health practitioners, leaders and scientists to promote health equity through academic excellence, innovative research opportunities, community engaged outreach activities, and professional development. The Public Health program currently offers a master’s in public health (MPH) and an undergraduate minor in public health. The public health program launched in August 2023 and offers in-person and online courses. Many of the MPH courses are offered in an 8-week format. There are plans for continued programmatic growth which include enrollment expansion, Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) accreditation and the development of graduate certificate programs.
Qualifications
The appointee must have an interest in promoting the Public Health program and will be expected to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in public health. The Assistant Professor of Public Health must be capable of effectively teaching public health policy, administration, and law, public health communication, community health, global health, applied public health courses (e.g., internship and research), and electives based on course demand.
Candidates for the Assistant Professor of Public Health must hold a doctoral degree in Public Health (DrPH or PhD) or a related field and a Master of Public Health from a regionally accredited university. Degree at time of application or official notification of completion of the doctorate by August 1, 2024, is required. Candidates must be committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
