The College of Business at Thomas More University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Business Administration beginning August 2023. We seek humanities-based teacher-scholars with a commitment to teaching undergraduate and graduate courses related to management theory and sustainability practices, research methods, and strategic management. The appointee will assist in the exploration and development of the sustainability business tracks of study. 

The faculty member will join a department which is creating new initiatives, strategies, courses and student experiences and very much values the ethical and moral foundations of good business practices Thomas More fosters a liberal arts centered approach to learning and encourages faculty collaboration across disciplines and departments and student engagement both inside and outside the classroom. The appointee must support and advance the University’s Catholic mission and commitment to the Catholic Intellectual Tradition.


  • Doctorate in Business, Management or a related field 
  • Evidence of effective college-level teaching 
  • Ability to contribute to the student-centered ethos of the University
  • Ability to teach Core as well as major courses
  • An entrepreneurial and innovative approach to program development


  • Teaching a full course load (four lecture classes) per semester
  • Assisting on committees and advising students, after the first year of employment
  • Participating in the development of the program curriculum and areas of concentration
  • Working collaboratively with others in the department, college, and university



  • Knowledge of principles, theory, and recent developments in environmental, social, and economic aspects of sustainability in business
  • Management generalist qualified to teach courses in business including but not limited to sustainability, innovation, leadership, corporate social responsibility, strategic management.  In addition, topics of social justice and change, economic efficiency and environmental sustainability are important parts of the teaching curriculum.
  • Doctoral degree in business (outstanding ABD candidates with a short timeline for completion will be considered) from a regionally accredited school 
  • Up-to-date skills in and familiarity with technology and learning-management systems 


Essentials for the Position: 

  • Education or equivalent experience in business.  Including but not limited to leadership role and/or teaching role pertaining to sustainability business practices.  
  • Help prepare and present course materials, develop syllabi, give lectures, assign homework, supervise testing and skill assessments, and advising students. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience with teaching in both traditional and non-traditional (adult accelerated) business programs.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship from the University under the Immigration Reform and Control Act.
  • Candidates must have a demonstrated ability and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
