Description

The Communication Program at Thomas More University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Creative Media beginning August 2023. We seek humanities-based teacher-scholars with a commitment to teaching undergraduate courses related to communication theory and research methods, strategic communication, and public relations. The appointee will assist in the creative exploration and development of the communication program and specialized tracks of study.

The faculty member will join a department with a broad curricular footprint that includes art history, visual arts, theater, music, graphic design, journalism, digital media, and communication. Thomas More fosters a liberal arts centered approach to learning and encourages faculty collaboration across disciplines and departments and student engagement both inside and outside the classroom. The appointee must support and advance the University’s Catholic mission and commitment to the Catholic Intellectual Tradition.

Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Communication or a related field
• Evidence of effective college-level teaching 
• Ability to contribute to the student-centered ethos of the University
• Ability to teach Core as well as major courses
• An entrepreneurial and innovative approach to program development

Responsibilities:

• Teaching a full course load (four lecture classes) per semester
• Assisting on committees and advising students, after the first year of employment
• Participating in the development of the program curriculum and areas of concentration
• Working collaboratively with others in the department, college, and university
