Assistant Professor of Education

The Education Department at Thomas More University invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor for the Graduate Program in Education. In alignment with the University’s teaching and service goals, the Department seeks individuals who have a strong commitment to the mission of the University and its dedication to a liberal arts education.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, advising, contributing to reciprocal partnerships with schools and with University programs, participating in ongoing program development, and providing service to the department, University, professional associations, and community partners.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Doctoral degree in education or closely related field (outstanding ABD candidates with a short timeline for completion will be considered)
• Five years of experience teaching in K-12 settings
• Advanced training in instructional leadership, secondary education and/or special education
• Ability to work well with colleagues and participate in collaborative programming
• Evidence of, or desire for, community engaged partnership experiences with schools
• Evidence of a commitment to equity and social justice
  
  Preferred Qualifications:
• Successful teaching experience in teacher preparation programs
• Evidence of incorporating technology in instructional practices 
• Experience in advising mentoring graduate students
