Thomas More University, located in Crestview Hills, KY, in the Greater Cincinnati Area, is a, private, liberal arts, Catholic university.  Founded in 1921 by the Benedictine Sisters as Villa Madonna College, Thomas More now serves just over 2,000 students.  For further information about TMU, see our web site at www.thomasmore.edu.

 

Thomas More University invites applications for a half-time, 12-month administrative position as Dean of Arts and Sciences.  A concurrent half-time teaching appointment will be made in an academic department within the University, preferably Chemistry, Criminal Justice, Economics, Sociology, or Mathematics. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  The expected starting date is August 1, 2019.

 

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in a field relevant to the College of Arts and Sciences and have some experience in academic administration.  The successful candidate is responsible for undergraduate instruction in his/her discipline (typically two courses per semester, or 4 per year).  Faculty members at Thomas More are expected to teach at all levels of the undergraduate curriculum, to share in student advising and recruiting responsibilities, and to engage in scholarly activities.  Deans are responsible for (a) providing vision and leadership to their College as part of the academic affairs leadership team, (b) supporting advising, recruitment , and retention of students, (c) maintaining a challenging, current curriculum, (d) hiring and evaluation of faculty, (e) supervising and maintaining budgets in the College, and (f) assisting the Office of Institutional Advancement in philanthropy efforts.
