Dr. Jagger is the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences following her role as acting president and three years as Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College at Thomas More College. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Zoology from DePauw University, a PhD in Microbiology from the University of Cincinnati and an MPH in International Health from Harvard University. She has published in the areas of mechanisms of microbial diseases, improving science education and incorporating ethics into undergraduate biology curricula. She began her academic career as a faculty member at Wright State University Medical School. Later in her career, she was Clinical Research Program Director at ProMedica Health System in Toledo, OH where she served on the Institutional Review Board and trained physician-researchers on ethical conduct of research. She had taught undergraduate students for more than 30 years prior to moving to Thomas More College in the summer of 2015. She has led teams of students and professionals on public health and clinical service-learning projects with underserved populations in the southern U.S., Guatemala, Philippines, U.S. Virgin Islands, and the Dominican Republic. She has taught regularly in the areas of cellular, molecular and microbiology, public/global health, and bioethics. She has dozens of scientific publications and presentations and has been recognized by the University of Kentucky as a “Teacher who Made a Difference”, by the American Society for Microbiology as a Scholar in Residence and Foundation Lecturer, as an Eli Lilly Faculty Fellow, and as a Bingham Fellow for Excellence in Teaching.
