Dr. Mader is a native of Fort Thomas, Kentucky. She received a B.A. in History in 1998 from Thomas More College, earned her M.A. in history in 2001 from the University of Cincinnati, and a Ph.D. in History in 2008 from the University of Kentucky. Dr. Mader was appointed Assistant Professor of History at Thomas More in 2009. She has taught World Civilizations I and II and upper-level courses in Fascism, American Film, Recent Russia, and Ancient Civilizations. Her approach to the classroom is to make history real, fun, and interesting to students, whether they are history majors or not. Her areas of specialization include Modern Europe, World History, Women's History, Film history, Studies of War and Empire, and Modern British history. Dr. Mader has presented conference papers at places such as St. Louis, Richmond, Louisville, Indianapolis, Columbus, and Boston. She was promoted to Associate Professor in fall of 2015. In fall of 2019, Professor Mader became Chair of the department and also serves as the Faculty Development Director of the university. Dr. Mader’s son, Jeffrey, plays for the men’s TMU tennis team and her younger son attends Highlands Middle School. She is married and resides in Fort Thomas.
