Areas of Expertise and Research Interests

Her research focuses on social emotional and social comparative processes, including the social emotions of envy, jealousy, and schadenfreude, moral judgements, moral distress, and burnout. In addition to her academic research, she regularly publishes and presents on teaching best practices and undergraduate mentorship. Dr. Powell also leads professional development seminars on how to reduce burnout, as well as how to communicate effectively across lines of difference

Additional Information

Dr. Caitlin Powell received her graduate degree from University of Kentucky in Experimental Psychology, with a focus on Social Psychology. She has been at Thomas More since 2018. Prior to working at Thomas More, Dr. Powell held positions at St. Mary's College of California, and Georgia College & State University. Her interests include science fiction, collaborative gaming and storytelling, and hiking.
